TETOUAN, THE MEDITERRANEAN HERITAGE

Nestled between the Mediterranean and the lush green mountains of the Rif, Tetouan cultivates a discreet elegance, shaped by history and by a singular way of life. A city of light and memory, it captivates through an authenticity that invites both cultural escapes and outdoor adventures.

Here, every era has left its mark: the ancient remains of Tamuda converse with the Arab-Andalusian soul of a city rebuilt by the exiles of Granada in the fifteenth century. History is also embodied in fascinating figures, such as Sayyida al-Hurra, Queen of Tetouan and ally of the renowned corsair Barbarossa. A white medina, traditional craftsmanship, songs and local flavours together compose the story of a vibrant cultural blending.

AT THE HEART OF AN ARAB-ANDALUSIAN JEWEL

Tetouan embodies an Arab-Andalusian heritage of rare richness. Its refined architecture, exceptional craftsmanship and generous cuisine bear witness to a legacy carefully preserved and passed down through generations. A city of culture and creation, Tetouan follows a vibrant cultural rhythm throughout the year, marked by the Mediterranean Film Festival in autumn, the Comic Arts Festival in spring and the Women’s Voices Festival in summer.
