Adam Bresnu: A RISING MOROCCAN ATHLETE ON THE INTERNATIONAL GREENS

All Right Reserved Asian Tour

At just 21, Adam Bresnu embodies a new generation of Moroccan golfers, ambitious and already making his mark on the international stage. Born in 2004, he is currently pursuing his career at Texas Tech University, one of the leading collegiate programmes in the United States, after being ranked NJCAA No. 1 during the 2024–2025 season and receiving the Jack Nicklaus Award from the “Golden Bear” himself. He recently stood out on the Asian circuit with a remarkable hole-in-one and a top-10 finish at the PIF Saudi International. Balancing academic demands with elite-level sport, he is on a highly promising trajectory.

When did you start playing golf, and what was your first major emotional moment on a course?

I started playing golf when I was two. My first strong memories go back to childhood: the pride of hitting my first good shots, then taking part in my first junior competitions. That made me want to keep going, improving and always pushing myself further.

You grew up between France, the United States and Morocco. Do you see differences in golf culture between these countries?

In France and Morocco, football dominates, while golf remains more marginal. In the United States, sports culture is far more diverse. Golf is more popular, more accessible and more widely covered in the media. It is less perceived as elitist and is supported by infrastructure that encourages its development. Growing up across these environments has allowed me to discover different approaches to the game and has greatly contributed to my development as a player.

Now that you live in the United States, what would you say to American golfers to encourage them to come and play in Morocco?

Morocco is now recognised as a leading golf destination, especially for those looking for sunshine in winter. The climate is ideal at that time of year. I would also highlight the remarkable quality of the infrastructure, among the best in the world, as well as the diversity and beauty of the courses, which give the country a unique identity. Added to this are a rich culture and warm hospitality, making every stay memorable.

Why did you choose to represent Morocco on the international stage?

It is, above all, a great source of pride. Representing Morocco also means showing that Moroccan sport is not limited to football, and that golf has its place at the highest level. Thanks to the support of the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation, under the presidency of His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, I had the opportunity to contribute to Morocco’s historic victory at the African Championship in 2022. This motivates me to give my very best and, I hope, to inspire a new generation of Moroccan golfers.

How do you manage to balance such a demanding sport with your studies?

The American collegiate system offers a highly structured environment, with top-level facilities, professional support and a schedule adapted to student-athletes. My journey has also been supported by the “Road to the Tour” programme of the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation. Launched in 2021, this programme identifies young Moroccan talents and supports them on their path to international circuits.

Golf is not always the first sport young people think of. What would you say to encourage them to discover it?

Golf is a very well-rounded sport that teaches patience, discipline, concentration and respect. It is also a school of self-improvement, helping you learn a great deal about yourself. Beyond the sporting aspect, it offers meaningful encounters, travel and unique experiences. It brings so much, both personally and athletically.
