Welcome to Agadir

Agadir is not just a city, it’s an energy”, emphasizes Brahim El Mazned, a native of Agadir and a major f igure in Moroccan culture. Producer and founder of Visa For Music in Rabat (a festival dedicated to world music in Africa and the Middle East), he grew up in the “Pearl of the Souss” as Agadir is known. Also the artistic director of the “Timitar” music festival, which takes place annually in Agadir, he has made his city a major stage for Amazigh and world music. It is there, he says, “that I immersed myself in Amazigh (previously known as Berber) culture, learned to love world rhythms, and understood the unifying power of culture.

Between the Atlantic and the Anti-Atlas mountains, Agadir boasts over 300 days of sunshine a year, 10 km of beach, and a corniche perfect for strolling, running, and stopping to breathe in the fresh ocean air. Over the last few decades, the city has reinvented itself with wide avenues and modern architecture, often cited in specialized works
