Through its new exclusive collection of babouches, Benson Shoes, a Moroccan high-end footwear house founded in 1963, offers a contemporary reinterpretation of an ancestral symbol. A defining piece of Moroccan craftsmanship, the babouche finds here a renewed expression, at the crossroads of heritage and industrial excellence.
For Mohamed Benomar, son of the founder and head of the brand, the intention is clear: “We have placed our industry at the service of the babouche, not the other way around”. Without altering the gestures of the master craftsmen, the maâlems, Benson Shoes applies what it has mastered for decades: the rigour of hand-crafted footwear, the selection of exceptional materials and a precise sense of detail.

Crafted from carefully selected leathers, hand-patinated and hand-dyed, the babouches stand out for the nobility of their finish and the transparency of the material, which reveals the leather’s natural beauty without artifice. Comfort, too, receives particular attention. Where the traditional babouche gradually shapes itself through wear, the Benson Shoes model is designed on two distinct lasts, a true right foot and a true left foot, ensuring immediate support from the very first steps while naturally following the shape of the foot.
Expanding the range offered to travellers, the Benson Shoes babouche is now available on board through the Skyshop catalogue, as well as for pre-order via the online boutique of Royal Air Maroc. It appeals equally to connoisseurs of refined elegance and to travellers drawn to authentic creations. “To bring back a babouche is to bring home a part of the country one has visited, an object that tells a story and accompanies everyday life”.
This creation pays tribute to Moroccan history, to its tanneries, its leather and the gestures passed down from generation to generation. It also reflects a contemporary vision of luxury: sincere, functional and deeply rooted. A babouche that does not follow fashion, but embodies an art of living defined by finesse and refinement.
